About this session

In the dominant industrial economy, packaging waste represents a significant share of urban solid waste generation, with wide-ranging negative impacts. The transition from the dominant linear economy to a model grounded in circularity by intention and design can build a new essential foundation for the market economy and packaging utilisation.

This session will be discussing important issues such as:
  • What types are there and what purpose do they fulfil? (Secondary or Transit, Primary, Retail ready)
  • What do we mean by “Environmentally friendly” packaging? (Good plastics vs bad plastics, Plastic vs corrugate)
  • Designing for the circular economy (Closed loop recycling, Waste streams, Cost)

Discussion leader:
Martin Leeming, CEO, TrakRap
